Almost there, I guess.

Been reading about labour.

Been receiving phone calls from friends offering advices and tips.

Been practicing whatever massages / exercises to help ease the pain or discomfort.

Been drinking a lot of fluids.

Been reading and relaxing and resting.

Oh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Azza! 27 year old rocking mama!

Nonsense kah ini???

My dearest husband was inspired to do some remodification unto his aquarium last weekend. He didn’t do much, just adding up an artificial plant and some nice pebbles. But the outcome was not so bad. He bought some small fishes (boring ones though, the typical ikan parit ones). Weird thing is, the small fishes seemed to love swimming around the plant. I wonder why. And oh, I saw 2 dead fishes already. Stucked behind the big rocks (in which for the tortoises to rest).

Badan rasa sangat uncomfortable. Bila baby nak keluar ni???

Am airing the clothes. It’s so hot out there. It only takes about an hour for all the clothes to dry. Yikes!

Uh-oh! Need to re-stock my candy jar! Yang tinggal hanyalah Sya’s bubble gum. I’m not a fan of gums. Nak Ritz crackers, or the luscious Bourbon biscuits. Nyum. Nyum. Tetiba teringat Cik Eton’s chocolate!!! Bila nak ada stock white choc ni, wahai cik Fazya..???

Yang, ice-cream dah HABISSSSS!!! Kalau nak jemput2 pisang, sila tolong restock makanan2 idaman ku~~

Sakit pinggang!!!

KEK LAPIS PROMOTION!!!

Hear ye, hear ye!

I’m helping a relative to promote her Kek Lapis business. She’s a Johorian, married to a Sarawakian and have lived in Kuching, Sarawak for quite some time. She and family are now residing in Kota Warisan, Sepang and running a restaurant: RANDAU Bakery and Cafe.

She’s an excellent chef, both in cooking traditional dishes and pastries. Her chocolate cakes are one of the best I have tasted. She has also perfected her Kek Lapis Sarawak making skill and well, the result is PERFECT.

As all of you are aware of Kek Lapis Sarawak, it is usually adorns in fancy colors and flavours. If you have purchased some (ramai orang kat semenanjung da jual kek lapis sarawak kan sekarang ni), are you sure it is THE KEK LAPIS SARAWAK? Well, if you taste the ones made by Mas Atika Hj Jaffar (that’s the name of my relative), you will say that it is worth your money.

I, personally have tasted one of the best Kek Lapis Sarawak made by a Sarawakian and I have eaten (many) of her Kek Lapis. Both are in the same level of deliciousness.

So, head on to this page and choose some for Hari Raya! They are having Raya promotion. Early birds are entitled to 10% discount.

Cube la.. I’m not a kek lapis fan, but I LOVE hers!!! And oh, I don’t get anything for this advert also. Just helping out to spread the words.

Useful tips

*Dah lapar, tapi malas nak gi dapur*

As I mentioned in my previous entry on Birthday Mak, I am pretty useless, hopeless and helpless in anything to do with kitchen (except for maybe cleaning it). Thankfully, I’ve been guided (cey..) by some people (who are usually an expert in kitchen). So, today, I’d like to share some of the tips I learned along the way.

  • Store chicken (freshly bought) according to parts, e.g. bony parts (drumsticks, wings), meat parts (breast).
  • Store chicken (freshly bought) according to the portions you usually use, e.g. if you are cooking for 2 people, pack just enough for 2 servings in a ziplock.
  • To thaw the chicken you have taken out from the freezer, do it in the bottom part of the refrigerator (or the upper part, fridge sekarang da macam2 jenis, kadang2 freezer kat bawah!). That way, you won’t spoil the chicken.
  • For easier & faster cooking preparation, have the onions and garlic blended (separately) to make into pastes. Then, store them in the fridge.
  • Each time refilling the rice, take out the old ones first. Then, pour the new stock and finally pour back the old stock unto the new ones. This way, the old rice won’t always stay in the bottom and not getting used until they turn bad. Unless you are using the modern rice dispenser, don’t bother to do this lah.
  • If you buy eggs in paper crates, instead of simply throwing the crates into the dustbin, run some water over it to make it soft and squish it. Easier to throw and it won’t take up space in the dustbin. (Although I’ve received a comment from a friend’s husband when I shared this method with her, saying it’s a waste of water. But what the heck, what does that man knows about kitchen thingy?!! No offense to men - only to THAT particular one).

I don’t have many. Not my fave subject anyway. *laugh*. Care to share any to this novice and ever-so-clueless me?

Saving grace

Woke up for Subuh prayer.

Drew back the curtain to let the subtle morning light into the room.

Turned to the page of the third Tillerman’s Cycle book last read and continued reading about Jeff Greene.

Sleepy.

Slept.

Woke up to the sound of a door being slammed shut, “Ah, must be mom’s room! Kena tiup angin la tu”.

Walked to mom’s room, peeked inside. She was still sleeping.

Got into bed again. Baby’s moving. Baby’s hungry. She must be if she’s moving like that. Hungry.

Considering: got up & make breakfast OR continue reading. Decision: Reading seemed more interesting *Grinning*

A while later, mom got up, “Eh, awal bangun? Dah lama bangun?”. Sengih to mom, thinking, “Hehehe.. ok baby, tok dah bangun~~~ jap gi kite makan, k.”

Bestnya tok ada kat umah kan, baby?

*Sengihan berpanjangan*
